Friday Poetically with Brian Miller

Welcome to Friday Poetically

“Start spreading the news, I’m leaving today…” Ok, so I don’t sing it as good as old blue eyes, but by the time you are reading this I will be on my way to New York to represent you, our poets and readers, at the Shorty Awards.

Later this weekend a few of my One Stop cohorts will be joining me. I thought about seeing how many of you I could smuggle in my luggage but was afraid of discovery during a search.

It’s Friday, let’s have a little fun. How about some New York poems today?

Anyone who writes a poem and links in today is eligible for a New York postcard from yours truly, just drop me an email at onestoppoetry@gmail.com with your address and I will send you one the first of the week.

1. Write a poem about New York and post it on your blog.
2. Input the direct link to your poem in Mr. Linky.
3. Visit others that have linked up and tell them what you think of their interpretation.

Note: As I will be traveling, I will not be around until very late tonight, but I will be coming by to see you soon. And thank you everyone, from each of the One Stop Team, for all you do to make One Stop what it is. Have a great Friday! ~Brian

I feel so proud to be a part of this forum. All the best to One Stop and everyone else over here. Congratulations …

From the other part of the world – New York is all about –

“the tall sea-bound ship abroad on wings of snow.” …
    or
“A near horizon whose sharp jags
    Cut brutally into a sky
    Of leaden heaviness,”
    or
“Is this a painting? Are those pictured clouds
Which on the sky so movelessly repose?”
    or
“The buildings are too big to believe.
Their shadows mix into each other,
    Going on infinitely.”

In a few hours I get to meet part of the One Stop Team, including Friday Poetically’s Brian Miller! I can’t wait. As for my NYC poem, it’s in memory John Lennon.
