One Stop Poetry!
Last night at the New York Times Center in Manhattan, OSP was awarded The Shorty in Art! Equally as cool, I (Adam) had the sincere pleasure of meeting Brian Miller and Leslie Moon for the first time. The three of us couldn’t believe that what began over the summer with Pete Marshall had quickly grown into a wonderful community, which had earned the respect of the well-noted panel of judges. This honor is due in large part to our ability to come together as a collective of individuals who share a love of words, as well as respect for the efforts of our fellow artists.

It was a heartwarming honor for me to accept the award on behalf of our artistic community. In fact, it was a bit overwhelming there for a second. I wish the entire team (Pete, Claudia, Chris, Gay, & Jess) could have been there. The sacrifices the OSP Team makes to keep this site going out of the sheer love of poetry and art, is a consideration that motivates me each day. So thanks again, to Twitter, the Shorty Judges, everyone who helped to make last night so special, and especially our peer community.

Just want you to know I watched 45 minutes of the Shorties. It was actually pretty fun! You guys come in around 22 minutes and it was a thrill even tho’ I only know Brian (and we’ve never met in person). That said, you were kind enough to publish a poem by my son Fletcher, and it meant a great deal to me. I communcate with another blogger/tweeter social media maven adbroad.com and she won a Shorty last year for her twitter acct: @bettydraper. Congratulations. Looked like alot of fun.

Once again, more congrats to the OSP team. I’m so glad that I found a community that promotes a positive environment for both published and non-published artists and writers, and provides them with positive feedback and critique. All of you are amazing folks, and I’m glad to be conversing with you here and on twitter.
With that being said, the enjoyable part about always being the late engineer to the Wednesday poetry party is that I get to dive into 150+ poems at my leisure! This week I chose a piece I wrote that all may be familiar with: the irony of love gone sour (and I couldn’t help but resist to pay homage to the brightest girl in the sky, Venus.) I hope you enjoy:
