Recently, some colleagues and I were invited for a cool event with a HUGE buffet – and the moment we started to eat I looked around and found us all heading for the food we were already familiar with..Why? Because we knew how it would taste. But what a shame because on that buffet were the most amazing, unusual and exotic delicacies, things I never saw before in my life (and I had no idea how to eat them either..) So I grinned at my colleagues and said: Hey..let’s try ALL the food we never had before…and we did. Well in the end we felt a bit dizzy but we had lots of fun, dirty hands and our taste buds were exploding…
Now here’s the invitation for tonight…don’t go to the places you usually go to but try something different – click on all the unfamiliar names and see how their poetry tastes. Maybe it smells strange, maybe you feel a bit off-place and not sure what to do with it…eat it..drink it.. get your hands dirty..comment on it…and have fun – And if you feel a bit dizzy afterwards – well – that’s how it is with good parties, no..?
…and here’s how it works:
- Post a poem to your blog.
- Then link your (ONE) poem to One Shot using Mr Linky. Enter your name and the URL (web address for your poem) for the poem you wish to share.
- Visit as many other One Shot Poets as you like. Feel free to encourage and interact with them. It’s all about community.
- Finally, please tell others about OSW. You may include a link to this page in your post.
- Have fun!

Thanks again, all, for the opportunity to share and read poetry on this wonderful forum. I do hope to read some words from a lot of unfamiliar poets this time around.
My poem for today stretches the rules just a bit, as it is more of a poetic sequence. This one is from a lady’s point of view… a lady who has suffered through some pretty terrible dates this week.
Mistaken All Week – A Poetic Paean to Dud Dates

I’m still reeling from that long weekend we on both sides of the hemisphere shared! Hence, unfocused to write something new, I’ve posted an old personal essay in lyrical prose for this ‘shot’. I hope you’ll enjoy it as much as I always do reading yours.
one last congratulations to everyone responsible for One Stop Poetry on your first year and my thanks to everyone for your encouragement.
wishing you all the best in the future, Brian. i’ll miss you. {smile}

Looks like I will have a busy Wednesday reading!
Hi! Claudia…
I know that you and Brian are surprised to see my name added to Mr.Linky…Well, I was thinking Of testing a theory and yet, I was very unsure [In other words, I was sitting on the edge Of the pool] about testing the theory.
However, after reading Claudia’s post I was forced off the “edge Of the pool” and into the “water” and the water seems fine….Thanks, for sharing, Claudia and Brian…

Looking forward to a week of “something different”!
What?! Get out of the rut? Good idea.
Actually came across the poem I linked in when sifting through papers and “stuff”. This is actually part of an actual love letter I hand wrote when the man I loved was deployed in Iraq. Fun to come across, thought I would share!
Cheers
